The latest installment of Weekly Ransomware Wrap-Up is yet another reminder that threat actors are constantly retooling and searching for organizational security gaps and misconfigured tools in order to spread ransomware and decimate businesses.

RansomHouse ransomware group claims to have breached the local government infrastructure of at least 8 Italian cities, per its public leak site. This latest round of attacks continues the assault against municipal governments and the critical services they provide.

Canada-based Ski-Doo manufacturer, Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP Inc.), was temporarily forced to halt all operations following a malicious ransomware attack. The company claims the attack was a result of the threat actor infiltrating a third-party service provider.

Nearly 100,000 individuals and 26 healthcare organizations were impacted by a ransomware attack perpetrated against New York billing company, Practice Resources. In these types of incidents, the fear is that threat actors have stolen troves of personally sensitive data.

The Cl0p ransomware group claims responsibility for a disturbing attack against a public utility company, South Staffordshire Water. While the ransomware group alleges they could alter the chemical composition of the water, safety has not been impacted by the breach.

As students head back to school following the summer break, ransomware is also returning. Whitworth University, located in Spokane Washington, confirmed a breach that is causing outages across its computer network.
