Today is Friday the 13th, which means one thing: it’s time for the ‘Weekly Ransomware Wrap-Up’.

Healthcare technology company, Omnicell, was victimized by ransomware, which potentially impacted confidential medical or personal information. Threat actors target the healthcare industry because of the sensitive nature of the data providers maintain.

Given the plethora of ransomware attacks launched by Conti operators, the U.S. Department of State is offering a $15 million reward for information leading to the identification and location of Conti group leaders and co-conspirators.

Top Aces, a Canadian defense contractor specializing in airborne training for combat readiness, was attacked by LockBit ransomware. The threat actor claims possession of 44GB of sensitive data, which it threatens to leak if no ransom is paid.

Lincoln College in Illinois, which opened in 1865, becomes the first post-secondary institution to shut down permanently following a ransomware attack. The malware impacted enrollment and fundraising efforts, leading to the Board of Trustees voting for closure.

Costa Rica’s President, Rodrigo Chaves, declared a national state of emergency following an attack by the Conti ransomware group. After the government refused to pay a ransom, the threat actors published 672GB of stolen data.
