Ransomware operators have been exploiting unpatched vulnerabilities within Mitel’s Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system. Unpatched vulnerabilities are one of the largest access vectors for threat actors. For this particular vulnerability, security updates are available.

A ransomware attack against Oakbend Medical Center of Texas forced all IT systems offline for a period of time. While patient care was not impacted, some 1 million records were claimed to have been stolen by the responsible threat actors.
